Prerequisites: None
Course Objective: Becoming familiar with basic drafting concepts such as:
the use of scales, orthographic projections, isometric projections,
perspectives, dimensioning techniques, and sketching techniques.
Textbook: Engineering Graphics Technical Sketching by Jerry W. Craig
Series 5
Materials: 6¡±45 deg triangle and 6¡± 30-60 deg. triangle
Quizzes: There will be 4, possibly 5 quizzes given.
There will be no make up of missed quizzes. Quizzes will be given at the
start of the period.
Exams: A Mid-term and Final Exam will be given . Date will be announced in Class.
Evaluation Criteria: Quizzes 20%
Drawing Assignments 25%
Mid-term Exam 30%
Final Exam 25%
Attendance Policy: Students are expected to attend all classes. Any extenuating
circumstances should be brought to the instructor¡¯s attention in advance
(in person, by phone or e-mail). Students are responsible for missed lecture
material and lab assignments. Each class day missed after the first 2 will lower
the student¡¯s final grade by one letter. For instance, if the student has an ¡°B¡±
average at the end of the semester but has missed 4 days of class, the
final grade will be reduced to ¡°D¡±. Students missing two straight weeks of class
without notifying the instructor will be dropped from the course.
Class Procedure: Class will start at 6:00 pm sharp. After the lecture, the drawing
assignment(s) will be worked on in class. The completed assignment will
be given to the instructor at the end of the class period. Quizzes (about 5) will be
given at the start of the period. There will be no make-up of missed quizzes.
