Lab 1. Calculating the number of bits needed to transmit different kinds of data. Due at the beginning of class (on paper) on February 4 for the day section, February 3 for the evening section.
Lab 2. Using e-mail, newsgroups, and the web to find information related to Telecommunications. Due: Friday, February 19, 1999 (Extended to: Tuesday, February 23, due to news server problems).
Lab 3. Making a Dialup Terminal connection to Hills, Capture Files, and uploading them. Due: Wednesday, March 10, 1999.
Lab 4. Planning to install and configure a modem in small groups. Due: Saturday, March 27, 1999.
Extra Credit Lab 1. Defining some modem terms. Due: Saturday, April 17, 1999.
Lab 5. Problems from Chapter 6. Due: Monday, April 26, 1999.
Lab 6. Choosing WAN alternatives, Documenting your network connection, and Researching an ISP online. Due: Saturday, May 15, 1999.
Extra Credit Lab 2. Modem command practice. Due: Saturday, May 8, 1999.
Term Paper. Summarizing Telecommunications Articles. Due: May 19, 1999.
Extra Credit Lab 3. Presentation of term paper research in class. Due: last day of class.
Important Note: The last day to turn in lab work for any credit is when ICL1 closes for the semester: Thursday, May 20. Lab work must be received by 10:00 pm for e-mail to "c130labs", and by 3:00 pm for late printed term papers.
