Our services on campus include the following and can be used to fulfill
the ESL 150 lab requirement:
- ESL Small Groups - These are sessions
composed of up to ten students at once. These group sessions cover Grammar,
Listening/Speaking, Reading, and ESL through Computers. You may choose
any of these groups at any time. Although you are not committed for the entire
semester, you may want to stay with a group that you like for as long as
your schedule allows to benefit as much as you can.
- Individual Tutoring - These are one-on-one
tutorial sessions with instructors. You may come with any range of questions
- from specific help with a grammar point to help with your essay. These
are the sessions you want to go to if you need help with organization of
your paper, brainstorming ideas for a thesis, and other composition problems.
Students in ESL 140 and above (including ESL learners in regular English classes)
can profit the most from these sessions. Please come to these tutoring
sessions with a copy of the written assignment from your instructor, and
make your questions as specific as possible. Be aware that at peak
times (the middle of the day), you may have to wait a long time for a tutor.
Put your name on a sign-up sheet when you arrive, and students are
served according to the order on the list.
