ATTENDANCE AT THE FIRST CLASS SESSION IS VERY IMPORTANT. YOU WILL BE DROPPED IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND.

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE COURSE SOME TOUCHING AND PHYSICAL CONTACT MAY OCCUR. IF YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE ABOUT THIS DISCUSS IT WITH THE INSTRUCTOR.

ENROLLMENT IN THE CLASS IS THE STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY. THE STUDENT MUST NOTIFY THE REGISTRAR OF ANY AND ALL CHANGES OF ENROLLMENT.

Students are expected to arrive at the beginning of class; admission is granted before lecture and after breaks, to prevent disruption, wait for a break before entering, be descrete. The college and department require attendance at all classes. Attendance includes both lecture and laboratory portions of the class. To be credited for a full class, you must both sign in and sign out; it is your responsibility to both sign in/out, failure to do so will be recorded as an absence. A student who exceeds the maximum number of absences will be dropped from the class.

THIS IS A COLLEGE CLASS. IT IS EXPECTED THAT YOU WILL NEED TO DEVOTE 2 - 3 HOURS OUTSIDE OF CLASS FOR EVERY HOUR IN CLASS, FOR AN AVERAGE GRADE. FOR A BETTER GRADE, IT IS EXPECTED THAT YOU NEED TO DEVOTE MORE TIME. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU TAKE NO OTHER COURSES CONCURRENTLY.

This course articulates with both the CSU and UC systems! Therefore, the materials covered, extent and depth, are regulated by the articulation agreements and transfer requirements. This course is also a prerequisite for B260, physiology, which will utilize the other half of your text. The instructors have very little control of content; they work very hard to assist you in learning the material.

Participants are expected to arrive for class prepared! Pre-lecture preparation include reading the goals and objective stated in the text at the beginning of each chapter. You should flip through the chapter looking at the boldfaced words, examining the figures, and reading the figure captions. This should only take 5 - 10 minutes and is essential in order to be prepared for the lecture. Do not! Try to read the chapter ahead of class. Wait until after the class and then read the chapter. You should read and understand the laboratory assignments before class. There is not enough time to both read and comprehend the laboratory manual and complete the lab assignments during class.

If your tally dose not match the instructors, you need to present the original work in your notebook, with the original score on it, to the instructor to document the discrepancy.

This course utilizes a variety of instructional paradigms. You are encouraged to form study groups and to work cooperatively with your lab partners. Team-work is encouraged and it is important you be a team player. To faciltate peer interaction a Bio250 class discussion list has been established at: Bio 250 discussion list

YOU MUST ATTEND AND PARTICIPATE IN THE WHOLE LABORATORY EXERCISE TO BE ELIGIBLE TO SUBMIT A LAB REPORT! EACH OF YOU MUST TURN IN YOUR OWN COPY OF EACH ASSIGNMENT.

ANY PAPER THAT DOES NOT CONTAIN A HANDWRITTEN SCORE IN YOUR CLASS RECORD BOOK HAS NOT BEEN CREDITED TO YOUR POINT COUNT!(This procedure is required to ensure that you have the graded assignment in your RECORD book, as per Class Notebook protocol.)

The lab manual review sheets are considered to be take home exams. It is expected that they be answered perfectly. Omissions and errors will be marked off from the maximum score possible, 5 pts. Since the information contained in these sheets is considered critical to the course, it is expected that you will learn it, not just fill in (copy) answers; it will be subject for both the lecture and laboratory exams.

Lab assignments, pre and post exercises, are due before morning class on the next meeting day, each separately collated and on their own individual pile on the front table. Late assignments will receive half credit.

Up to four extra credit coloring may be turned in per review sheet/sheets assignment; they must be attached to the Pre and Post Sheets. Loose assignments are not accepted. To receive full credit, the review sheets and EC coloring must be turned in within one week of the coverage of the material in class. The maximum EC points can not exceed the P & P grade.
