Welcome to my CCSF website. Let me tell you a little about myself and give you a sense of what you will be getting into in my classes. (To those of you who are scoping my website out in preparation for the online course, none of this applies to you; please click on the above online PSYCH 11 link for information about the online course).
I am a San Francisco native who also attended City College - but many, many years ago. Batmale Hall didn't exist when I was a student here! It was great being a City College student, and I hope you're enjoying your experience at CCSF as much as I did. The opportunity to learn and grow is something you don't always have when you get too busy with life, so let me encourage you to take advantage of what college is offering you now.
All my classes have an established curriculum, but you'll see that I am very interested in issues of personal growth and self-understanding. My training is in clinical psychology, which means that my focus has been on becoming a therapist, specifically working with children. You'll see that I tend to talk about kids a lot more than I need to. Some students enjoy the stories I tell about the kids and families that I've worked with; others are annoyed that I don't get to the point quick enough. Regardless of how you see me, there's a lot you can learn from taking one of my classes - about people, about kids, and maybe even about yourself.
