STEPS FOR ORIENTATION

1. Register for the course through City College, then email the instructor.
After you have registered and by Tuesday, January 19, please email the instructor at mclancy@ccsf.edu. In an email with the subject line "CNIT 133", send me your first and last names, email address you will use for this semester, and your student ID number.

2. Log in to the Course starting Tuesday January 19
CNIT 133 is an online course. Other than the optional orientation, there are no in-person meetings. Students participate in this course and access the course materials, discussion forums, and final exam through online course software at City College. You will need a login name and password to log into this course.

  • You will log into the course at http://insight.ccsf.edu (not available until Tuesday January 19)
  • Username: is based on your CCSF Student ID, in all lowercase. If your ID begins with an "@", change this to a lowercase "X".
    (Your username is case-sensitive and must begin with a lowercase letter.)
  • Initial password: will be auto-generated and sent to your email address which you have on file with WebStars. If you do not have an email address on file with WebStars, please contact the CCSF Help Desk for assistance at (415) 452-5689 during business hours.
  • After successfully logging in, you will be prompted to change your password and create a personal profile. For further instructions, see the Insight @ CCSF homepage at http://insight.ccsf.edu. Look for the "Student Quick Start Guide" and "Login/Password/Profile" link in the "Main menu" block.

3. Optionally attend in-person orientation on Saturday January 23
There is an optional in-person orientation for CNIT 133, Sec. 832, on Saturday January 23, from 12 noon to 1:30 PM, in rom Science 8.

Please note: Attending the orientation is optional. It will include logging into Insight, logging into the Hills web server for publishing student webpages, and other information for getting started.

4. Contact the instructor at mclancy@ccsf.edu if you have any other questions, or need help logging into the course, logging into Hills, adding this course, deciding whether this is the right course for you, or any other concerns you may have.
