PASSIVE FORM

Objectives: * Learn to make sentences using the passive voice
* Practice using the passive voice in sentences.

NOTE: To form the passive voice of a verb you use the verb to be (am, is, are, was, were, will
be, has been, have been, to be) and the past participle of the main verb (eaten, spoken,
opened, completed).
ExampleHe was tossing the coin. The coin was being tossed by him

PRESENT TENSE

  1. Acid rain destroys the environment. 
  2. The teacher teaches the alphabet. 
  3. Mother prepares lunch . 
  4. He uses the typewriter. 

PAST TENSE

  1. She cooked dinner. 
  2. He turned on the T.V. 
  3. The secretary wrote the letter. 
  4. They bought the groceries. 

FUTURE TENSE

  1. The nurse will help the patient. 
  2. James will drive the car. 
  3. He will care for the garden. 
  4. They will read the book. 

PRESENT PERFECT

  1. Mary has given me the keys. 
  2. We have returned the letter. 
  3. The dog has finished the food. 
  4. They have completed the exercise.
