What does it mean to be a skimpy consumer?

That is a good question to think about. As for me, it is a person, who is economical in some purchases. There is always an option in his mind: "Let me see… Should I buy it now and make myself happy and satisfied, or I will not buy this thing and save some money for a rainy day?"

There is the item. He doesn't buy it; he walks away, and the next day an accident happens to him, and his life is over. A man never knows his next step in this life. Saving some money on some purchase does not please a person. He comes home, and he is obsessed with this idea. In my opinion, it is better to do something and be sorry for it than not do it and after that be sorry for not even trying it.

A man always has a dream, a desire to obtain the best in this world. There are people who try not to spend their money on necessities and put it all in their saving account every month. They are considered to be frugal. However, there is a question: why do we need money? The answer is very simple: to spend it and invest it in business, to try to get as much profit from our money as possible. It is really hard to trust and cooperate with other people who try to be a part of a deal and make everything to promote a success in a business. If a person wants to succeed in life, he must overcome drawbacks and meet life's ups and downs on the way to his dream. And money is a best resource for making a dream come true.

There are so many temptations in life that a person can not just pass by. Everything in this world is made for man and man's everyday needs. A person has to buy something, precisely to want something, no matter what.

By satisfying his needs, a person makes himself happy and pleased. Certainly, some successful brands can have a great influence on people; there is always an option, but it is the person who chooses which brand name to trust. People are consumers, and it goes without saying that a person will never stop obtaining material needs, especially the cheapest ones. There are so many supermarkets and shops which supply people with goods and provide a good source of information on certain brands or any purchases.

Certainly, there is a risk of getting merchandise of lower quality, even brands that are popular with everyone nowadays. As a matter of fact, a person can trust nobody, only use one's intuition. There are so many opportunities that a man always has a chance to make his life comfortable and diverse according to his financial status. Everybody is different, but one thing makes mankind united, a desire to live a better life and strong will to be happy.

Hello my dear friend!!

I have not written you in a while. At last I applied for a college here in San Francisco. You know, study and work are keeping me busy all the time. How have you been doing? Last time I got a message from you, I was surprised in a way: having a baby is serious step at 24. To tell you the truth, I am happy for you and your husband. Congratulations!!

You have been asking me for a long time when I will be ready to settle down. Well, I can say, not now and not in the next 10 years. I am having a great time here. My goal is to get a higher education first and then find a well-paid job. As you know, I did not graduate in Russia. I'm taking my chances here, my friend.

I've gotten acquainted with a lot of people from all over the world. Everybody is unique in his or her own way. They belong to different cultures; everybody is an individual. I've gotten to know a lot of people from the Russian speaking community: Ukrainian, Belorussian, Kyrgyz and Mongolian people. I can not stop being shocked about how little our Russian people know about their country, being here in San Francisco. It is a shame not to know your territorial neighbours in Russia. When I tell them that I am from Elista, Russia, they get confused about the fact that Kalmyk people, whom I'm related to, can be found on the territory of the Russian Federation.

I feel bad and sorry that some of them are such careless people. One day, I went with my friend to pick up something at the store, and there was an American salesman who was interested in where we come from. When we named the city, we were surprised that he knew the city and the name of our nation. He told us that he used to travel around Russia and had heard about us. At that moment I felt proud that even an American knows about our small nation.

You know, if I have a little opportunity to tell somebody about my people, I use it. I have lived here for almost 3 years and recently understood that you can not be a part of the community you live in or the culture you belong to unless you know the history of your country. Every nation has its own culture, mentality, and beliefs that are not easy for outsiders to accept, as we are considered to be aliens here with other principles in our life. But we can try to expand our knowledge and do our best not to judge the culture we do not belong to.

With love,
Rimma
