Supplies–You must have available some medium to save your work. CDs, DVDs, Flash or Thumb drives, or Zip drives are all adequate. You can also use email or Fugu to move files between home and school.

Grading–There will be a short quiz approximately every three weeks. There will be homework assignments every week. There will also be a final exam. At the end of the semester, we will throw out the lowest quiz grade, add the remaining quiz grades to the final exam grade. In addition, we will add the points for each homework problem. From this total score, we will derive the final letter grade.

Course Objective–Learn how to use the Macintosh computer, including its Graphical User Interface. Examine in some detail common Mac applications, especially Microsoft Word.

Software Policy–It is the policy of the SFCCD that there will be no copying of copyrighted software or proprietary programs belonging to the college nor any copying of copyrighted programs on computers belonging to the college.

Drop Procedure by Instructor–Any student who misses more than 2 classes or more than 2 quizzes is susceptible to being dropped from the class by the instructor for excessive absence. If you must be absent for more than this length of time, make an arrangement so that we will not drop you. Finally, if you want to drop the class, you should do so on your own initiative. Do not depend on your instructor to drop you if you stop attending classes.

If you miss a quiz–see me in my office before the next class period; you may be allowed to take the quiz at that time.
