Subject: MS Word Tables—Assignment 8.

One of the places we see text tables is in listings of TV shows–see below and accompanying handouts. Your task is to combine the listings by producing a table of the Premium channels for Wednesday, October 8, 2008 from 8pm to 11pm. Premium channels are: ENCore, HBO, HBO2, CineMAX, SHOwtime, STZ (Starz,), and The Move Channel (TMC). If a move starts before 8pm, or not on an even half hour time break, include the start time. The table will probably look better if printed sideways (File/Page Setup). Include “Film:” if it’s a movie; you don’t have to include any other info (e.g. running time, stars, etc.) Don’t leave any extra blank lines across a whole row. Be sure to include a grid of lines separating all cells.

Extra Credit Assignment #1

Due: Week of November 23, 2008

Use an MS Word table and Mail Merge to produce at least 5 form letters; each letter must have at least 5 lines of text with at least 5 substitutions per letter. When you print, remove the Section Breaks, so that each letter doesn’t use a whole page. Hand in:

1. the 5 copies of the form letter with substitutions and

2. a printout of the table from which the substitutions were taken.
