BIOGRAPHY
| I was born in Japan and educated through college there. I have a B.A. in
English from Kyoto University of Foreign Studies. While in college, I developed
my interest in teaching Japanese as a foreign language and took classes
on the subject. I started teaching Japanese at Kobe University in 1982,
and that was my first encounter with cultural diversity. I found that I
really enjoyed learning about different cultures. I moved to San Francisco in 1984, and received my M.A. in teaching Japanese from San Francisco State University. I have been teaching at CCSF since 1986. I believe in providing a classroom environment that reflects the real Japan, and feel that students get the most out of learning when they are allowed to interact and help each other in a supportive atmosphere. I am also a jewelry designer. In my free time I enjoy cooking all different types of cuisines, and playing classical piano. |
