China Camp State Park: Lunch; View and discuss San Pablo Bay. Identify native plant zonation and discuss sedimentation and marsh formation

9:00 am

Heron’s Head Park: Birds of San Francisco Bay Shorebird habitat restoration, Ecology of the Central Bay

11:00 pm

Bayfront Park, Menlo Park: Lunch; Salt pond restoration

12:00 pm

Potluck

1:30 pm – 3:00

Palo Alto Baylands: Ecology of South Bay sample water column and mud flats and observer phyto- and zoo plankton, review primary productivity, salt marsh food webs

3:00-4:00

WHAT TO WEAR:
Be prepared for both hot and cold weather by wearing  layered clothing that you would not mind getting dirty.
Sturdy shoes or hiking boots that will get muddy!
Sun protection and sun glasses.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • A liter of water
  • A lunch and snacks! Note that there won’t be enough time for you to go get a lunch.
  • A clipboard or a notebook to write in and on and pens.
  • Optional: binoculars, field guides, camera
