Music

  • I like to play the music of Domenico Scarlatti. He has written more than 550 sonatas for the keyboard. Some of my favorites are K380, K517, K402, and K426
  • Bela Bartok is another of my favorites. For example, here's three of his Dances in Bulgarian Rhythm: Num 1, Num 2, and Num 6.
  • I compose music. Reflection is the second in a suite of six keyboard pieces. I set Reflection to midi because it is one of the shortest and easiest pieces I have written. I used a program called MidiMagic to drag notes onto the staves. Reflection is interesting because of a long retrograde section. See if you can notice how the ending is the same as the beginning, only backwards.
  • Aftermath is a section from a trio I wrote for modern dance. This trio was scored for flute, horn, and bassoon. The whole piece lasts 20 minutes. Aftermath is a flute solo which comes after a section called 'Mathematical'. I chose Aftermath because it is short, lively, and contrasts nicely with Reflection.
