Echo Lake Camp
Drive to Berkeley Echo Lake Camp. Take Interstate 80 Northwest from the Bay Area. In Sacramento switch to US 50 towards South Lake Tahoe. Echo Lake Camp is 8 miles past Camp Sacramento. It is just before Echo Summit. Watch for sno-park signs. If you start going downhill into the Tahoe Basin you have gone too far.

There is a sno-park sign 1/4 mile before the turn-off. Turn left on Johnson Pass Road toward the sno-park. At the actual sno-park turn left on Echo Lake Road. The Camp is about a half mile up the road.
Take Amtrack to Sacramento and catch the Amtrack shuttle bus to South Lake Tahoe.
