Did you know that there is an Associated Students founded and run program on the Ocean Campus that lends books to students for free for the entire semester? If you didn't, you're not alone. The Bookloan program lends more than 3000 books to over 2000 students a semester, but there are still too many students who don't know they are eligible and miss the chance to reduce the cost of their education by getting a free textbook.
Bookloan is located in the Student Union, room 104B, on the second level (near the City Cafe). Students should come prepared with:
Bookloan opens one week before classes begin every semester, allowing students to arrive on the first day of classes free text books in hand.
Bookloan carries textbooks for many of the general education courses required for transfer to a 4-year university and for some other courses, as well.
Bookloan is run entirely by students and volunteers who are passionate to help their peers and are constantly working hard to find ways to provide more books to more students. Volunteers, questions, comments, suggestions, and requests to purchase specific books for loaning are welcomed: bookloan@ccsf.edu.
For more information, including a flowchart describing who is a "priority" Bookloan student and the program's regular semester hours, go to: http://www.ccsf.edu/NEW/en/student-services/student-activities/as/bookloan.html
Finally, check out the Textbook Affordability Task Force website ( http://www.ccsf.edu/Services/Textbook_Affordability_Task_Force/) for more ways that everyone in the CCSF community can help reduce the costs of textbooks. Best regards, Bookloan Staff
