INSTRUCTIONS ON THE REACTION PAPER

1.  The reaction papers that you are going to write in this class are expressions of your critical thoughts, feelings, and personal responses to the films which will be shown in class or the readings that have been assigned.

2.  View the films and read the literature thoughtfully and critically. Try to integrate what you have seen and read, and perhaps what you have heard or found from other sources and references. Ask yourself questions on how you perceive or interpret the information that you got. Do you affirm or negate, agree or disagree with what you have seen or read? How do you feel about it?

    It is important that you provide supporting statements, scenes or events to your critical comments. Do not provide a whole summary or description of the whole film.

3.  You need not comment on the whole film or the whole chapter of an assigned reading. Focus on some issues, events, statements or ideas that strike you as critical or meaningful.

4.  Each paper should not go beyond 3 pages (double space). I may ask you to write it in class or at home.

5.  Deadlines for submission of the papers will be scheduled.
