Option 3 is best for those who want all the materials for CNIT 103, 103L, and 104. This is the very best pricing arrangement.
Note: The CompTIA A+ certification exam will be updated in summer/fall 2012. Students most likely will be able to take the 2009 CompTIA A+ certification exam through December 2012, but the new 2012 exam and this extended test taking date have not yet been officially confirmed. If new textbooks become available in time for the Fall 2012 semester, the CNIT department may update the A+ textbooks for Fall 2012 to match the new 2012 CompTIA A+ certification exam objectives. You should take this possible update in textbooks from Spring 2012 to Fall 2012 into consideration when deciding which of the above options may be best for you.
One of the above textbooks is required. Students who wait 3 or 4 weeks to obtain a textbook or never obtain a textbook have a very difficult time succeeding in this course. For those on a tight budget purchase early online through cengagebrain.com or you can find a couple of copies of the textbook on 3 hour reserve at the Rosenberg Library on the Ocean campus. |
| Computer Access |
This is an online class. As such you are expected to
have access to either a PC or MAC computer with an Internet connection
that meets the minimum requirements as listed by Insight. Your computer
and Internet access should be dependable. For an online class it is
the student's responsibility to have a backup plan in case the computer
he/she normally uses to access this online class is not functioning
properly or is not available. Do not wait until the last hour to complete
the weekly assignments. Exam and assignment deadlines will not be
extended due to individual computer or Internet connection problems.
For your information, CCSF has several PC
and MAC computer labs available to students throughout the week. |
| CCSF Student E-mail Account |
As of June 1, 2010 all CCSF students have been issued a CCSFmail account which ends in @mail.ccsf.edu. All important information from your instructor and the school will be sent to this student e-mail account. It is your responsibility to monitor this account throughout the semester. For more information on this account and how to forward messages to an alternative account, please refer to http://www.ccsf.edu/News/gmail.htm |
| Software |
- Firefox or Internet Explorer 7 (I.E. 8 is not fully supported by Insight)
- Microsoft Word or Notepad for writing brief reports and MS Excel
- Image manipulation software such as IrfanView (freeware) or MS Paint
|
| Class Attendance |
Class attendance is required. In an online class this
means logging into the class. You are required to log into the class
at least once per week, although 3 or 4 times per week is recommended.
I reserve the right to drop any student who does not log into the
class for more than 2 1/2 weeks. Although I reserve the right to drop
any student who does not log into the class for more than 2 1/2 weeks,
students should not depend on me to do so. It is the student's responsibility
to complete the online form in Web4 that is needed to drop or withdraw from this class. If
you simply stop attending class, you will probably receive a failing
grade for the course. |
