Mac news:
IMPORTANT: Use Safari or Firefox to open GroupWise for your key and password emails, NOT Internet Explorer.

  1. When you click Save As beside your key attachment, Safari may save it as an .xml file. Delete .xml so that the name is yrlogin.stc.
The icon may change to a Contribute icon - a C with a key. If it doesn't, don't worry.
    Contribute key icon
  2. Drag and drop the key icon (whatever it looks like) on the Contribute icon on the dock to start the Contribute login process.
  3. If you don't have a Contribute icon on your dock, control click (hold down the Control key while you click the file) the key. Choose Open with.... from the popup menu.
  4.  Navigate to your applications folder. You may have to open a Contribute folder as well. Then choose Contribute from the list. Contribute will open up the login screen as usual.

Contribute backup policy (as of Spring 2006):

  • We keep three backup versions of your Contribute pages.
  • If you want to go back to a previous version of a page after publishing a new version, open the new version and, from the top menu, click File > Actions Rollback to previous version. Then pick which version you want to roll back to.
  • If you delete a page you can't roll back to it.
  • The webmaster will delete any backup that is more than 6 months old.

I followed the directions and downloaded my key but Contribute didn't open. What happened?

  • Does the computer have a copy of Contribute installed? The TLC has copies in its two labs (313 Batmale and 210 Rosenberg library, Ocean campus), and one copy each on a shared computer at most networked campuses and at Castro-Valencia.
Departments or individuals still have to buy their own copy of Contribute for their office or home from the bookstore or the Macromedia education store site.
  • Installing the key can be tricky. For on ething, the process has changed with new browser versions, and, on the Mac, with new OS X updates. It's best to have a copy of the key handout for Windows or Mac beside you to make sure that you are doing it right.
