ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR WWW SITES

This information is for those who have sites on the www server

05/04/2007http://www — (not http://fog ) — these announcements are for you.

Mac OS X Tiger, Safari, and your key

The newest Mac operating system and browser versions now "recognize" your key as a special type of file (an XML document). Safari actually changes the key .s name when you download- it adds ".xml" - and Contribute can't use it. You have to erase the .xml at the end to return the key to its original name: yrlogin.stc (where yrlogin is the same login/UserID as for CCSF email and Contribute).

Full details in a new key doc for Macs.

Deleting Backup copies of your pages every 6 months

  • We keep three copies of any page on the server: the one you publish and three backups.
  • If you want to go back to a previous version of a page after publishing a new version, open the new version and, from the top menu, click File > Actions > Rollback to previous version. Then you can pick which version you want to roll back to.
  • If you delete a page, however, you can't roll back to it.
  • Any backup copy that is more than 6 months old will be deleted automatically to save space on our www server.
